How important should fashion be for a man and why?

I see fashion is very important for women else most of the cosmetics commercials I see on TV wouldn’t be focused on women.
What I am looking forward to understand is, how important should fashion be for a man and why?

If you are not attractive to begin with, then it really helps. If you are attractive, the it doesn’t matter at all. I go to college in black sweatpants and a plain tee and still have girls drooling.

The fashion is the presentation of your public image in your job, friendships, networks and community. This public image shows the social background, economic level, cultural and Professional achievements. I suggest that you don’t do any excess or eccentric choices, must of them embarrassing.
