What are some different careers in the fashion industry?

While I have many other interests in life (particularly literature, social sciences, and astrophysics), I live, breath and eat fashion.
Fashion is something I would consider being involved with for my whole life, but I don’t know where I should start.
In fashion, other than being a model or designer (adore that idea, but must learn to sew first), what are the different careers?

How can I start being a fashion and beauty girl?

I’m 13 and I love fashion and beauty, but I just don’t know how to be a fashionista/ fashion and beauty girl! I’m doing this for myself, by the way! What magazines do I read, make -up, any recommended stores, clothing lines, clothes, shoes, accessories, purses (I already have a small Coach Purse), what do fashionistas obsess over (except for fashion and beauty duh!), how do they act, any recommended books (fiction or nonfiction), what do they say a lot, what celebrities are their role models, how do I get great fashionista-baby soft skin, any bedroom (bathroom) make-overs, and any other suggestions are cool! I don’t want to be self-centered or mean, I am really nice actually.
Sorry, that’s a lot of stuff, but I just love fashion, just don’t know how to put it!
Advice would be awesome!

How do you start off working in the fashion industry?

I am extremely interested in all areas of fashion. I keep my nose in Allure, Elle, Cosmo, Vogue and the tabloids. I love celebrities and their apparel. How do you get your foot in the door of fashion? Fashion journalism (I’m a great writer), fashion consulting (I adore clothes, accesoriese, etc.) or just working for a magazine? Help! I just don’t see why it matter that much.
I like to look nice and get something cute but not designer stuff. We kill animals to look good. We spend 300 dollars on a pair of jeans when you can get perfectly good ones for 60 and have 240 left over. 240 is breakfast, lunch and dinner if you use it right. You could save lives with that 240! INSTEAD you use it for a pair of jeans. So why does it matter if you look good or not. People will think your pretty? So people will be attracted. If someone loves you its the inside that counts. I really don’t get it. But since about 99.9 percent of people think its more important than saving a life, it must be important. Can someone explain why?

How do I start my own fashion line and get in the biz?

I am 13 years old, and one of my lifetime accomplishments would be to successfully begin my own fashion line. I am very fashion savvy and 150% dedicated to my dreams and goals. I already have notebooks upon notebooks filled with designs. I’m just having a little trouble finding a way to promote my fashion.

I’m about to go to college in the fall and major in communications at MSU, a largely accredited University. All my life I’ve wanted to be involed in fashion whether it be writing editorials or being a buyer. Will not majoring in some type of fashion merchadising/journalism/communications degree hinder my chances of getting a fashion orientated job? Or will I be A-OK with a great degree from a major university, not focused around fashion?
